Topical Discovery Tool
I’ve done a few blog posts on topical clusters, and obviously, topical discovery is a big part of that. However, manually doing this is time-consuming, and SEOs aren’t known for having a lot of time. Well, good SEOs don’t anyway. It is worth doing though, as a topical authority can give your website a good boost as it’s a trust signal and good for E-E-A-T. So, is there a way to do topical discovery quickly and easily? Of course, there is. I’ve found an amazing topical discovery tool that I want to share. I’ve made a video on it if you don’t want to read, or you can listen and follow along.
I’m not one for doing a hard sales pitch, but WriterZen really is a great app for topical discovery.
So, what is topical discovery, and why should you use a tool to do it? Topical relevance and topical discovery are what are going to help you build out topical clusters. Manually choosing and researching what you should be writing about, isn’t just time-consuming, but it can also be inaccurate. Topic discovery is basically the process of finding relevant keywords and topics for you to write about to build effective topical clusters. For obvious reasons, the best way to do this is by using tools like ZenWriter, because they have access to all the information you need. Otherwise, you’ll be doing mostly guesswork.
There are a number of benefits to using topical clusters, which I wrote about in a recent blog post.
ZenWriter for Topical Discovery
ZenWriter is a great tool for writers for a number of reasons, but in this case, it is worth paying $69 for the topical discovery tool alone. The tool will help you to understand your audiences’ search intentions amongst a bunch of other stuff. Identifying amazing topic opportunities is where ZenWriter really stands out. Finding strategic topics with low competition and great relevancy is close to impossible without the use of a tool, and I was really impressed with all the information this particular tool offered.
With the basic package you get up to 50 keyword lookups per day, and 50 content briefs per month; these are both great but it’s the topic discovery section you want to focus on. In the video, I used the example of searching for plant pots. That’s one of those niches in which you would really struggle to find relevant topics; especially if you’re not a gardening enthusiast yourself. In this case, ZenWriter found 40 different topics to blog about with varying degrees of relevancy. Now, I’m not interested in gardening in the slightest, so having that list of topics would be extremely helpful if I were to direct content writers in that niche. It also gives you headlines to consider, and other ideas to build out those topical clusters.
It really is a game changer for the price that they are offering for the discovery tool alone. However, they do have other features like a keyword explorer and a plagiarism checker that you can check out. It will make life a lot easier for your content writer and deliver great results for your website in the long-run.
