Drip Affiliate Program Review
What is Drip?
Providing a universal definition to Drip is a little difficult because this platform can be used for several different things. The feature that stands at its core is automation, so it can be utilized for sending out emails and managing the perfect email marketing campaign with information such as whether the emails are opened or not, if they end up in spam, if there are actions that people perform upon reading them, and more.
Drip can also be utilized for creating visually appealing newsletters thanks to the myriad of pre-built templates that are available on the site. In general, this tool is mostly designed for e-commerce website owners and their marketing team, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t provide any value to bloggers and other people doing business in the online media world.
Another nice feature that the product makes available to users is the Analytics, which allows users to consult the amount of revenue that they’ve registered over a period of time such as 30 days, 7 days, or even during the last 90 days.
Segmenting the audience within an email marketing campaign is also a breeze with Drip, and this is also a feature that many have spoken highly of in the past. Last but not least, when it comes to customer support, you probably have nothing to worry about since the service offered by the company is also top-notch in this sense.
What services can you recommend to your audience?
First of all, Drip comes with a 14-day free trial, and the nice thing about it is that anyone interested in giving it a shot doesn’t even have to fill out a form with their credit card details, either. In other words, your referrals will have the chance to test Drip first and then make up their mind if they want to commit to paying for a subscription every month.
As for the plans themselves, they vary a lot when it comes to their features and their costs. For example, the most basic one that we found is priced at just $39 per month and comes with email support, free migration, unlimited email sends, as well as an email list of 1-2,500 people — therefore, it speaks to the needs of bloggers or e-comm site owners that are just starting out.
A bigger plan such as one that allows for an email list ranging from 9001 to 10,000 people will set you back $154 per month and will basically include the same features, along with chat and email support.
For email lists ranging from 17,501 to 20,000 people, the cost will be $289 per month. Large businesses such as those that want to keep in touch with as many as 45,001 to 50,000 people every month will have to fork out $699 every month. The number of emails sent out will also be limited, but the threshold is a generous one — 600,000 email sends.
For all of the plans, including the very large ones, you can expect 90+ integrations such as those ranging from Magento to WooCommerce and Shopify to automated workflows, email templates and a visual email builder, too.
Another reassuring detail is that any payment plan can be canceled anytime, so you will probably have to note this in your review of Drip, too.
Joining the Drip affiliate program
Before we move on to giving you all the details you need about the program and how you can apply, we would like to add that there are actually two types of Drip affiliate marketing partner programs. One is designed for agencies, which are obviously businesses that manage email marketing for their clients.
The second one is designed specifically for content publishers along with social media influencers who might strictly be interested in promoting Drip services to their audience in return for a commission rate.
As for the way you can apply, you’ll be glad to know that the program is managed by PartnerStack, a quite effective separate affiliate network that will allow you to easily consult your stats and conversions, even more so if you are an affiliate for multiple other programs.
The PartnerStack link that you are going to discover on the separate Drip Partner page that the company has put together comes with a form that you’ll have to fill out with information such as your first and last name, your agency name, your agency website, your agency phone number, along with the country you are based in.
Once you’re done with that, you can expect your answer in a few working days through email. In a nutshell, joining the Drip email affiliate program is quite easy, especially when compared to what we have seen with other companies.
How much can you earn as a Drip affiliate?
The commission structure of the Drip email affiliate program is a little unique in the sense that based on your performance, you can actually increase your rate. The commission will become higher only depending on your monthly recurring revenue, which means that if you gradually get more people to sign up and also keep their subscription, you’ll have the chance to make more money.
The Silver tier gives you a 15% monthly recurring commission and a Demo account, so you can test out the features too, so that you know what you are recommending to your readers.
Then there’s the Gold tier, which makes it possible for you to make 20% out of whatever your referrals are paying for their subscription, along with a featured link on the Drip website, and more.
Finally, the Platinum tier offers you 25% in recurring commissions, a Partner Badge, and Roadmap insights, along with plenty of other exclusive benefits. So while the base commission is probably not too high when comparing it to what other programs have to offer, if your performance is stellar, you definitely have a better chance of earning more.
In other words, your earnings will largely depend on whatever your audience will choose as per their needs — if they have an email list of just 2,500 people, they’ll pay $39 per month, so you aren’t going to make a fortune with this program.
On the other hand, if their list is 25,000 subscribers, they will pay $369 per month, which means better commissions for you — whether you’re in the Silver tier, the Gold tier, or the Platinum tier.
Payment methods and thresholds
There are two main payment methods when it comes to the Drip affiliate program, which automatically makes it stand out from the crowd. Unfortunately, the majority of the other programs that we have reviewed in the past choose not only to host their own campaigns on their website and avoid working with a separate affiliate platform, but also have only one way of paying their affiliates — PayPal.
And let’s face it, PayPal hasn’t been extremely popular in the past years and there have been a lot of issues reported by long-standing users. But with Drip, you will have the option to either receive your money through this service or Stripe. If you’re based in a region where PayPal isn’t supported, the company will also try to send you your commissions via an alternative method.
Another aspect worth noting here is that the cookie duration is 90 days, compared to the 30-day standard, which is what other brands have to offer. So, after one of your referrals tries the product for 14 days, they’ll have more than half a month at their disposal to make a decision about getting a subscription or not.
As per the company’s own claims on PartnerStack, your commissions never expire. Unless something happens, you can expect your earnings to hit your account on the 16th of every month, with the caveat that during those first 16 days of the month, your commissions are going to be verified and paid-out by a company representative.
Pros and cons to being a Drip affiliate
When it comes to any type of affiliate program you might or might not want to join, there are both advantages and disadvantages that need to be given some thought to before you make your final decision.
There aren’t a lot of cons when it comes to being a Drip affiliate, that’s for sure. First off, the 90-day cookie duration is a benefit in itself, and while the commission rates aren’t really worth writing home about, it all depends on your performance — the number of referrals you get to click your Drip affiliate link and sign up for a plan and how big their plan is, too.
The fact that the waiting period is just 16 days, especially when comparing it to what other brands in the online media have to offer — some of them ask you to wait for as many as two whole months before you can withdraw your earnings — is another pro that needs to be considered.
And finally, the fact that the program is run through PartnerStack makes things a lot easier. With PartnerStack, you’ll gain access to a variety of tools to promote Drip in general, along with a nice analytics feature where you can consult your performance and everything you need to improve it.
Drip affiliate program alternatives
If for any reason, you feel like being a promoter of the Drip affiliate campaign doesn’t make sense for you right now, here are a few other options in mostly the same industry. They might not be geared toward e-commerce in particular, but they’re also email marketing tools.
GetResponse
We wrote a separate review of the GetResponse affiliate program before, so if you have the time to give it a read, we strongly suggest that you do.
The best thing about this opportunity is that you get a 120-day cookie. The commission rate isn’t too bad, either, in the sense that you can choose between being paid a set amount for every sale ($100/sale to be exact) or a recurring percentage (33%). This one works through CJ Affiliates, so that’s another benefit.
ActiveCampaign
The ActiveCampaign affiliate program makes it possible for you to earn 20% out of all of the purchases made through your affiliate links. This is a recurring rate, so you’ll get it each time someone pays for their monthly plan or renews their yearly subscription.
There are different tiers, so if your performance is stellar, you can get to a 30% recurring rate for every referral. However, that also involves you having acquired more than $2,000 in renewing subscriptions or $500 over the past 3 months.
Sendinblue
The cookie duration of the Sendinblue affiliate program is basically the same as that of the Drip affiliate program, so 90 days. Besides that, you can get paid for free trials, too, but just 5 euros every time. For paid plans, you can make up to $100 at a time.
On the downside, the only payment method that you will be able to use a Sendinblue affiliate is PayPal.
HubSpot
There are two ways to earn if you become a HubSpot affiliate – you can choose the one-time payment model and get 100% of the first month’s revenue to the company or opt for the recurring commission model and earn 15% of whatever your referrals are paying for their renewals, whether that be every month or every year.
The good thing about the HubSpot program is that you can be paid via PayPal and bank transfers. Unfortunately, although it is effective and certainly high-paying for affiliates, this program might not be the best choice for people who do not have a B2B audience – HubSpot is not cheap.
